On April 11 we drove to Baliwag to make some deliveries to the missionaries there.  On the way out of the city we saw these people working on the electrical wires.  One of them was actually walking on them and balancing himself by hanging onto other wires.  We thought it was fortunate that he was so close to a hospital.

As we got closer to Baliwag we saw this cart, pulled by a carabao, on the side of the road.

Sunday April 8 we were invited to Baluyots for dinner and a FHE.  We went to their house last October for a turkey dinner and then a couple of weeks later Sister Baluyot was killed in a car accident.  She was the RS president in Bagong Silangan Ward and Brother Baluyot is on the high council.  Their son, Jimson is in the bishopric of another ward in the Fairview Stake where we were for three months last fall.  They cooked a lechon (roasted a pig) for the occasion.  That's only done for special occasions so we're very flattered.

After the meal we had FHE which was followed by an activity.  The losing team, which turned out to be Ken and Jimson Baluyot, had to perform the "Baby Shark Dance".  Look it up on You Tube if you want to see what it is.The gentleman without a shirt is the Baluyot's mentally challenged son.  If they put a shirt on him he thinks he's going to a drive through for food. Brother Jimmy Baluyot is in the brown T-shirt at the back and Jimson is in the white shirt behind Leslie.

We bought some ensaymadas at a local bakery and they were yummy.  They are a soft sweet bread covered with butter and sugar and then topped with grated cheese.  It helps if you realize that the cheese here tastes rather sweet instead of savory as it does at home.We like to grill them in the toaster oven for a few minutes to melt the cheese and butter.

This is our district at District Meeting on April 2, 2018. The t-shirt says "Super Nova" because we are in Novaliches Zone.  Underneath that it says " A long time ago in a zone far, far away..."

These are a couple of amusing signs that we've seen.

Considering that the few traffic rules and laws are not enforced, putting up this sign is about as forceful as a whimper, e.g., you'll notice the jeepney parked counterflow.

This is Commonwealth Avenue on Good Friday.  The trip to Don Antonio Ward which usually takes 50 minutes down Commonwealth only took 20 minutes on Good Friday.  Thousands of vehicles were not there.  Traditionally most families visit their relatives in the countryside on Easter weekend so we were treated to a couple of days of almost-normal driving.

This one man on his ladder is not enough to solve the bigger problem.  He probably doesn't even know that there is a problem.
