This is a typical house for most members of the branch we work with.  Even though it seems primitive to us, these homes are very middle-class.  The home that we live in seems luxurious compared to this.

The nicest homes are made from cement blocks and others are made from sheets of metal which are repurposed by the homeowner.  Roofs are made from woven grass and some are metal sheets. Inside the home, fabric or curtains hang, which separate sections of the home.  Some homes have built-in rooms but curtains are always used instead of doors.  In the kitchen area there are hot plates and very few homes have ovens, usually only if baking is required for earning a living.  Laundry is scrubbed in a tub and then hung where it will dry, inside the home or outside in a convenient place.
